I do not like typology. It concerns itself with blends of quadrants and it continually creates confusion because we get sloppy with language and start mistaking the blend for the quadrant.
TYPOLOGY IS BASED ON BLENDED QUADRANTS.
DO NOT MIX TYPE THINKING WITH QUADRANT THINKING!
Use the Four Quadrant Reference Card for analysis, and use the types if you want to slice psychology in the old ways.
Even a slightly more modern system of typology would use at least 5 types of characters, however, the 4x4 Myers-Briggs system is rather useful. If you'd like to determine your type, there's a free test here.
Idealists intuitive feeling Analytical - Melancholic cautious, threatened by change ethics and ideals factual, preoccupied by detail logic & facts before relations organized & prepared
|
Rationals intuitive thinking Driver - Choleric driven, task-oriented willing to take risks needs to be in control forceful, business-like get to the point

Guardians sensation judging Amiable - Phlegmatic prefer status quo, easy-going, slow to decide don't enjoy conflict or saying "No" relationship-driven, need trust and personal assurances
|
Artisans sensation perceiving Expressive - Sanguine lively, trivia, social talkers conceptual, spontaneous prefer variety over routine be stimulating, lively & enthusiastic paint them the big picture

Again, be careful to not mix the four quadrants with typology! the quadrants represent cardinal relationships, typology covers blends!
